Exhibitions 2010

A Continuing Love Affair with Trees
Twenty Twenty Gallery, Much Wenlock, Shropshire, Tel 01952 727952

Preview Friday 1st October. Exhibition open from 2nd – 30th October 2010

I live in a very rural part of Shropshire surrounded by inspiring landscapes and our garden is also a source for composition and meditation.

Having practised meditation for the last 25 years it is now inextricably linked to my work.

In this exhibition I am continuing the journey with trees from traditional watercolours to mixed media.
The sketch is just the beginning of the creative process. When I paint I use no outlines and begin with a short period of meditation so that the creative process of non-attachment begins and what emerges on the paper is closer to the reality of the experience of seeing. There is no security and meditation has released me from the known to the unknown.

Anish Kapoor recently wrote ‘As an artist I have nothing to say, but when meaning arises I’m willing to take it seriously. The power of a work comes from its ability to accrue layers of meaning’

In Silence we listen
In Listening we hear
In Hearing we see
In Seeing we understand
In Understanding we are at peace
In Peace we are with the Oneness
